Family Build A Chipboard Word Book
& Bind It With The Bind-it-All
This is not an ordinary pre-cut word book. With these chipboard albums your letters and pages are separate making these albums customizable. 
This fun and imaginative class will teach you how to assemble a chipboard word book, cover it with paper, cover the letters with inks and bind it with the Bind-it-All. 
The class fee includes a “FAMILY” word album (made from the thickest chipboard on the market), 12 x 12 papers from Crate Paper (Lemon Grass Collection) to cover your album, use of Tim Holtz crackle paints, distress embossing powders, paint dabbers, dew drops and our new “must have” sanding stick, wire to bind your book and the use of our amazing Bind-it-All machine.
Techniques you will learn in class…
  • Covering chipboard with paper so that it doesn’t come up
  • Distressing your album with inks
  • Work with Tim Holtz crackle Paints, paint dabbers, distress embossing powders & regular embossing powders
  • Using our awesome Sanding Stick (once used, it will become a “must have”…it’s that good)
  • How to use the Bind-it-All machine.

This is a fundamental class (not art) showing how you can use certain page protectors and other products to add flips and lots of photo opportunities to your albums.  This class has been extremely well received at my workshops and I’ve had many customers thank me for sharing these simple techniques.  I do use CTMH true fit folios and a variety of our page protectors to show the versatility.  A handout of what each product does and dimensions/cutting instructions are included.

Jacob's Ladder 12:30 PM - 2:30 PM

This is fun mini book is designed just like the toy with the same name. It holds lots  of small pictures and the pages flip, flip, flip all the way down the ladder. We will be making ours from scratch and full instructions are included so you can make more on your own.  You will have a choice of papers, all of which are appropriate for multiple themes. These make great little gifts!  For all scrapping levels.  This is a 2 hr class. 
What to Bring: basic supplies, (trimmer, scissors, paper piercer, adhesive, pencil) You will also need 1/4" tacky tape (the orange tape that is very strong), a glue stick, a ruler and pen or marker. Pictures can be added later- they will need to be wallet size or be trimmed down.

Scrapbook Blueprints - Digital/Hybrid Way 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Scrapbook Blueprints the Digital / Hybrid Way -- with Club Scrap

In this 2-hour class, we'll create two digital scrapbook pages.  The first, using a mostly-finished 'template' digital quick page and the second from scratch, using digital elements with brushes and clipping masks.  Finish it up with journaling and we'll print it out in the classroom!  If you're curious to learn more about using your computer as a scrapbook tool, this is the perfect chance! Simply bring your laptop with Photoshop Elements 5 or 6, or Photoshop CS2 or CS3 installed, and your photo ready to go, and I'll provide all the rest! You'll take home two beautiful completed hybrid pages and have a CD with an entire kit of Club Scrap Digital elements for repeating the process on all your future pages!

What to Bring: Laptop, power supply, installation and knowledge of Photoshop Elements or CS, CD/DVD drive, USB and/or Thumbdrive for transferring files to printing station.

Serendipity 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM

Serendipity is defined as the effect by which one accidentally discovers something fortunate. This class is perfect for anyone wanting to 'break out of the box' and discover something wonderful! We will create a large serendipity panel and use it to create layouts and greeting cards.  With this method you can create a variety of embellishments using all of those scraps you have collected along the way.  You will never look at your stash the same way again. You will be able to cover any theme you like.  All skill levels welcome.   
What to Bring: Scissors, Paper trimmer, pencil for notes, black fine tip marker, and a variety of adhesives (A glue stick or other fast drying glue is highly recommended.)

This is a slow paced beginner class that will introduce yoga positions to open up, stretch, and release tight muscles throughout your body.  We will do some relaxation/meditation to calm the body and mind, aromatherapy and head massage will also be incorporated into this class.  It's a great way to start off your fun weekend!

Glimmer Mist is all the rage and this class will show you how to incorporate these wonderful inks into your projects. You will make a chipboard album, featuring Tattered Angel’s new Window Albums with Glimmer Glass and Glimmer Chips, using Glimmer Mists and Glimmer Screens to create your individual designs.  These products have beautiful, vibrant colors, that are visually appealing and will bring out your inner artist.  Learn how to use and layer these fun transparency products and coordinating chipboard elements along with ways to embellish and enhance them with glazing, ink and rubons.

Learn about Copic markers, the markers that go way beyond the coloring book to cardstock, transparencies and more.  Learn how the markers work, without the revealing brushstrokes so often associated with marker coloring.  Learn how to use them for blending and shading while making 5 fabulous looking, yet simple to create handmade Greeting Cards.  All the stamping is done for you so you can focus on coloring and assembling your handmade cards. An airbrushing demonstration will also be included with hands-on use as time allows.

Your body might be feeling some aches and pains and you might be a little tired, so rejuvenate your body and mind by joining this stretch class.  This class will give you energy for the rest of your weekend.  We will be flowing thru some yoga positions that will stimulate your body and muscles, get your heart rate up with a little breathing exercise, and get your circulation and energy flowing.

Heavy Metal 2:30 PM - 4:00 PM

Are you tired of the usual embellishments?  Then this is the class for you.  In this technique class we will recycle aluminum pop cans, get into the metallic look, play with ink, add sparkle with gold, and have a great time exploring what metal can add to our pages.  You will leave with two 2-page layouts, and creative ideas for many layouts to come.  Skill level: Adventurous beginner - advanced.  For all skill levels.

You don’t want to miss this class.  You won’t even realize that you are exercising because it is a Party!!!  Latin influenced music will be taking your body for a ride, we will laugh, dance, and ZUMBA!!!  No dance experience needed.  We will start with a short introduction on what dance styles we will be dancing to, dances include Meringue, Cha Cha, Salsa, Cumbia, Reggaeton, and Mambo.

Class description:  “How to get it  "right" in the camera, when you push the shutter button”.   We use PowerPoint slides and images to demonstrate the answers to the following questions: 

  1. Which file type to select; JPEG or RAW file?
  2. How to achieve higher quality prints?
  3. How to avoid photos with a yellow/blue cast?
  4. How to achieve a sharper focused subject?
  5. What to look at on the camera to determine if the photo is good?
  6. What are quick corrections for a photo that’s too dark or light?
  7. If you are interested in purchasing a digital compact camera or an SLR, what is recommended and why?
  8. What accessories should I buy for my camera?

Everyone attending the workshop will receive written guideline notes.  We encourage questions from attendees and supply an e-mail address to follow up on questions.  There is a hands on practice session with your camera at the end of the workshop.
