Hi everyone! Dale and I are very excited to announce that we have found a replacement home for our February SDVs in NJ. The contracts are now signed for TWO SDVs in February of 2009 at the Ocean Place Resort & Spa in Long Branch, NJ. (These will replace the SDVs previously held at the Seaview Marriott. ) While we are sad to leave the Seaview which has been a special place to us for nine years, we are excited about moving to the beautiful Ocean Place Resort. The spa is right inside the hotel. There are plenty of rooms and lots of crop space. No more up and down the stairs to two different crop rooms, and no more shuttle rides to the spa (for those of you who like to indulge). And....a special bonus....it is located right on the beach! It's about an hour north of Seaview, so we hope to see more of you northern NJ and NY girls join us here.

We won't be opening up registration for these two SDVs yet, but don't forget you can start saving now. Just go to your Account Statement. Click on Make Payment and you can make a payment with your credit or debit card to your SDV Savings Account. Or you can mail a check to Dream Events, Inc., 18725 Mt. Lock Hill Road, Sharpsburg, MD 21782 and note on your check that it is for SDV SAVINGS. Once you register for an SDV, you can transfer the money over to your registration.

Fresh Air? This Technique is a Breeze!

Spring has sprung! And all I can think about is the lovely fresh air breezing through my open windows. And how about a breath of fresh air for your pages?

Well now that we can open the windows and get some ventilation going, I decided to give this a go!

Have you heard of masks and stencils?

Heidi Swapp mask. Crafter's Workshop stencil.

They are really a lot of fun to use on your pages, but what about trying something new? I chose a fun, laser-cut paper for this technique.

Pop Culture 'Hopscotch' by KI Memories

I really like this laser-cut paper, and I didn't want to ruin it by spraying something WET in order to get my image. So instead, I used a Copic Sketch marker, with the airbrush system. The alcohol in the marker ink evaporates as it dries, and leaves the paper dry and intact. Plus, I'm spraying on the reverse side - so the laser-cut paper will remain intact. Although I would always recommend using the black print so that you wouldn't care if some ink came through to the front.

Let's get started. Place the laser-cut paper facedown over the inside of the acrylic album cover. This will ensure that you get a properly reversed image through the front of the album. I put this over my Ranger non-stick Craft Sheet to protect my worksurface.

Place the Copic Sketch marker into the airbrush system and make sure, though you'll be able to see that the white backing is covered with ink, that you focus on getting the negative spaces, the acrylic. Because it is blowing AIR with the ink, make sure you either put a removable adhesive to hold it in place, or hold it down securely while spraying.

Once you've got the item completely covered with ink, lift off the laser-cut paper and voila, your image is revealed. I've flipped the acrylic album cover over to the right side so you can see the image, properly reversed.

Isn't that neat? My design concept is to make an album about the 'Lazy Days of Summer' - and the color represents sky/water and the jumble of numbers represent the days flying by. Ok, you don't have to get that - but I do hope you will try the technique! I do hope to offer the album concept later in the year.

Remember the well-ventilated area please. And have a blast!

More time out of the office every day. It hurts my schedule but I’ll do what I have to do with a smile on my face. I’m afraid of it tiring me out, but the doctor told me that exercise would combat that. I started walking the treadmill today and doing situps on the AB Lounger – you know those things that are probably in many homes collecting dust. I am determined not to let radiation kick me down. I’ve gotten through chemo without any major problems. I will get through this fine too.

I was tired of wearing a hat but the hair on the top of my head wasn’t coming in thick enough to go without one. I was tired of the gray hair. I looked so old. I was tired of having crooked breasts. The one that was operated on was smaller and higher than the other one. With a bra, I could’ve hidden that. I was tired of driving back and forth every day, and being behind on all my work. Tears filled my eyes and I could feel the emotions fighting to get out. For the first time, I wanted to cry out loud or hit the wall and scream. But I was in a dressing room three feet from other patients. I got dressed and pulled the curtain back with a cheerful smile instead.

It actually felt good to release some of that. I had fought it away for so long, certain that tears would make me appear weak and negative, and I was anything but that. This journey I was going through had changed my life, and I felt empowered by the responsibilities it gave me to spread the word about mammograms and self-exams to so many women that I meet through my business. I felt inspired to help other women and to be their shoulder to cry on, if and when they needed it.

It's been a LONG summer - and a wonderful one. But I must admit, I have been missing my craft area.

Now that the kids have gone back to school, I set one of my goals for this school year, with my eight year old and six year old twins, to READ a lot more to them. They are voracious readers, but that is an individual thing, and I like to read stories to all of them. So we started on something that none of us has read (and they haven't seen in movie form either) the Harry Potter books. We finished book one, "The Sorcerer's Stone" and are at the beginning of book two, "Chamber of Secrets". I love reading to them! And I love reading these books. I hadn't before - and I can see why they are so enchanting.

So, as I was prepping with a guest instructor that was coming to my local scrapbook store, a former SDV instructor that you may remember, Cheryl Mezzetti. I asked her if we could create a class with the Creative Imaginations Reyna Castle Book that WASN'T princess-themed. I asked for Halloween or something like that. She suggested and went forward with the new Wizard Line from Creative Imaginations. I wanted something more dark and Harry Potterish - so I went with what I had in hand from Cosmo Cricket and Hambly -- and I must say, I like the result!

My best friend has been working HARD and traveling a lot, and it wasn't until this weekend that we could actually sit down, craft and reconnect for a little while. That was so nice. I was able to put the final touches on my project in her company. Creating is so much more fun with company! But you guys already know that!

And it is fun when two people collaborate on a project, albeit long distance, and come up with such different results. Here I present both of them. I hope you enjoy this non-traditional take on the Reyna Castle Book:

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Aug. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- To celebrate the mass appeal of the $2.6 billion scrapbooking hobby and the launch of the all-new 2008 Grand Caravan, the Dodge brand is taking the ordinary scrapbook to new proportions in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record(TM) for the world's largest photo album. Consumers will be invited to be part of history by adding their own unique touches to the giant album using oversized embellishments.

The Dodge Minivan Page in History album, measuring approximately 9 feet wide by 12 feet tall and containing 20 pages of photographs, will commemorate the evolution of the Dodge minivan since its introduction in 1984 and showcase the latest innovation in the 2008 Grand Caravan, the Swivel 'n Go(TM) seating system. Swivel 'n Go offers second row seats that swivel 180 degrees to face the third-row with a removable table that installs between the two rows, covered storage bins in the floor of the second-row, third-row uncovered storage and fold-in-the-floor third-row seating.

The standing world record for the largest album was set in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, in 2003 and measured 3.9 feet wide by 7.8 feet tall. The new world record for the world's largest photo album will be presented at a scrapbooker's convention in Orlando, Fla., on Thursday, Sept. 6 and remain on display through the weekend. Hundreds of registered scrapbookers will be invited to "scrap" the pages of the world's largest photo album as part of the 72-hour scrap-a-thon.

Scrapbooking expert Polly Maly, contributing editor for Better Homes and Gardens Scrapbooks etc., is teaming up with Dodge to create tips to help everyone from novice to avid scrapbookers find time to get started or catch-up on scrapbooking, stay on top of the latest ways to customize pages and identify time-saving techniques.

"The most difficult part of scrapbooking is actually finding the time to do it," said Maly. "For the average scrapbooker who spends approximately eight hours a week scrapbooking, the Dodge Grand Caravan, with all of its innovative storage features, really helps scrapbookers stay organized so they can easily bring their scrapbooking totes and supplies with them on the go, as they travel to scrapbooking crops or even on vacation."

Maly offers other tips to help consumers stay up-to-date on the latest scrapbooking trends, including:

-- The road of life: Scrapbooking preserves the memories from the road of
life, but sometimes the road turns before you've had a chance to catch
up. Don't let that road lead you astray. Stay current on your
scrapbooking by taking your scrapping essentials with you in the 2008
Dodge Grand Caravan and scrapping on the go - during soccer practice,
waiting for the carpool, during ballet lessons or while on that special
       vacation.
-- Inspired organization: Need some inspiration for organizing your
scrapping space? Head to your local discount store and cruise the
kitchen and bath storage aisles for organizational ideas, including:
       - Paper towel holders to hold spools of ribbon.
       - Decorative glass jars to house buttons and smaller embellishments.
       - Utensil jars for the perfect tool caddies.

-- Organize and categorize: Whether your scrap space is a corner of your
dining room table, a dedicated room in your home or your minivan,
organize your supplies by category. Storing all of your embellishments,
stamps, paper and tools together means more time scrapping and less
time hunting for your supplies as you head out to crops. Plus, for
on-the-go scrappers, the new Dodge Grand Caravan has a place for
everything from the innovative in-floor or overhead storage bins to the
dual glove boxes to available map pockets behind the driver and front
       passenger seats.
-- Keep your eye on the prize: When designing a scrapbook page, decide
first on the theme of your page, choose photos that will visually tell
the story, then pick one focal-point photo that reinforces your page
idea. To draw the viewer's eye right where you want it, either enlarge
your focal-point photo or treat it to a special position and mat it.
-- Don't forget to live a little: Let yourself off the hook for being
"behind" in your scrapbooking. Give yourself credit for the memories
you've already preserved in a beautiful way, and just enjoy the
creative outlet that will pay tribute to you, your family and friends
for years to come. Treat yourself to a change of scenery or a
mini-vacation by taking a road trip to a favorite scenic destination or
a scrapping vacation in your 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan, packed with all
of your scrapbooking essentials and the work-space.

John and I had many problems over the years, and he was a very difficult man to get along with, but I felt so bad that his life was cut short. It can happen that fast. He had plans for the next day. They were all set in place, but he never woke up to carry them out. His death was a shock to everyone. I really thought I should cry, but the tears wouldn’t come.
